Paved floor with honey-comb structure

Paved floor with structure

Paved floor

Paved concrete floors

Paved floors

• Description of the floor

Paved floor means that the floor of the walking area is completely out of concrete and has no structure at all. Some farmers make it uneven and put small holes in the deepest area to separate the slurry from the manure and to get the liquid out. As a consequence of this the floor doesn’t get too wet.

• Cleaning

The farmers cleaned the floor every third hour via an automatic cleaning system, like any other kind of floors in free-stall barns. Twice a day the floor is cleaned with water, also automatically.

• Quotations and opinions of farmers

It is good for environment because the exhaust of ammoniac is lower in this kind of system, the air in the stable is very good. It is also said that it’s not slippery as long as it is wet.

Paved floors with structure

• Description of the floor

This kind of systems work in the same way than the normal paved floor. It is also possible to separate the manure from the slurry.

• Cleaning

Every second or third hour the floor gets cleaned automatically with a special shaped “broom”. Some farmers also use water sometimes, especially in summer, because the floor is better when it is wet.

Paved floor with honey comb structure

• Description of the floor

It is a concrete floor with a special kind of structure. The narrow parts are about 3 cm deep and they are filled with manure. The floor isn’t totally flat, that the slurry can go to one side (only some %). The structure is deep enough, so it won’t dry out.

• Cleaning

The floor is cleaned about every 2-4 hours with an automatically cleaning system.
