Farming in the future
Farming in the future, how can we make that happen?
This project is produced in the Nasek exchange school year 2006 - 2007. The material was produced during an exchange between Norway (Videregående Skole Lena) and the Netherlands (Groenhorst College Barneveld). In total 18 students were working on this product. The students were split up in 4 groups.
Farming in the future is a big challenge for young people. It is not so easy to follow up the parents in the farm and next to that it is hard to make profit due to high costs and decreasing prices for products. Next to that the prices for fields and new production rights are very high. In the EU the agricultural subsidies are going down all the time. So heavy rules for farming, less support all together a difficult climate for taking over the farm.
Norway is not a member of the EU. The governement is making rules. Next to that they have lot of subsidy possibilities. Anyway an interesting comparisation of possibilities for the future because of this different Background.
The groups are:
* Creative things next to the main branche to have more profit (Hinne Sjoerd, Thormod, Rick, Martin)
* What are the possibilities for a farmer to get more profit out of his animals (Renske, Marte, Jan Wouter, Marco, Marthe)
* How to reduce labour costs (Pieter, Miriam, Alwin, Janicke)
* Following up a farm. What are the problems and possibilities (Desiree, Else Marit, Elisa, Benthe, Liesbeth)
You can meet the involved students in the www.nasek.net forum! So if you have time, please go there!
