Mineral feeding
Micro feeder
It’s possible that cow’s ore heifers get not enough minerals. It’s important to keep the mineral level optimal. Sometimes it’s handy to feed the cow’s whit a Micro feeder. One micro feeder can handle a herd of 50 cow’s. One farmer told us that when he start to use a Micro feeder the heifers increase process goose up whit 30%. It is important to use minerals in powder form, not pellets, or else they’re intake regulation will be destroyed. The micro feeder is a relative cheap way to feed minerals but it’s better to keep the minerals in the roughage on optimal level because then your sure that every cow ore heifer gets the minerals she needs. In the summertime you can give extra salt to the cows, then they drink more water and depending on this, they eat more dry matter too. And then cows produce more milk.
Automatic Feeding System
There are two types of a Automatic Feeding Systems for concentrates, one for a tied-up stable and one for a free walk stable. The biggest different is the time the cows can get concentrates. In a tied-up stable the box whit concentrates rolls over a rail in frond of the cows and every cow is known by a chip or a transponder and get her feed. In a free walking stable the cows can go to the feeding box when ever they want. They are also recognized by a chip or a transponder. It’s possible to feed more types of concentrates in one box. Some types can handle 4 to 5 types. So it’s very handy to make a perfect ration. Most of the times the feeding box is connect whit a computer. The computer can help the farmer to calculate how much the cows need.
