Problems with storage

Many farmers haven't got enough storage room, even if there are some laws and instructions they have to fulfil:

For slurry:
- you have to store the slurry in a waterproof container (lagoon or concrete tank)
- you need storage room at least for winter time depending on your country

For manure:
- you have to store the manure on a waterproof concrete floor with walls around and you have to collect the run off.
- you need storage room for at least for winter time

- you can store the manure for a short time on the field, but not on compact soil and near surface water.

You have to consider when you are planning storage system:

- What that costs

- How that works in practical

- How easy it is maintenance

- Is it possible to change it in future

Place of storage is important, because:

- You have to hide it because it isn’t good looking and it can smell

- It can’t be too near of waters

- Emptying should be easy

- It can’t causes problems to nature

- It takes space
