Watersupply

A good water supply is important for a good health and fertility in housing of a dairy cow. Look up, how a cow drinks in the nature, because there a herd goes to a river and they drink a lot of water in one time. So it is important that you have basins, where they can get the water fast enough. If you want to know more about problems and solutions of water supply, please follow this web page.

A cow's water demand

How much a cow needs depends on milk production. There is a rule according to which for the production of 1 litre milk cow needs 1 litre water. A cow that gives 40 litres milk on a day needs therefore minimum 40 litres water. Also water is necessary for all kinds of body processes (blood turn, saliva production, increase etc.) and that is 60 litres, so when we add all that together,we come up to 100 litres water per day. And in summer it can run up to 150 litres per a cow a day! Other tips about drinking systems.
