Taking Temperature
After a cow has given a calf the temperature of the cow should be 38 degrees. But it happens sometimes that the temperature increase to 40 degrees or more. This may be a sign of a dirty uterus. Its very important that that is getting a treatment because otherwise the milk production is decreasing, and the fertility of the cow will went wrong watt will say that the wont be that easy pregnant.
A way to remedy this is temperature the cow the first seven days when its giving milk.
When the temperature is higher then 38 degrees you should give the cow medicine. When the uterus is not clean out after calving you should wash it. When a cow is not cleaned for a long period you should give hormones to get the cow back in herd.
The consequents are:
A good thing from take temperature is that you know earlier when a cow is getting ill. What also mean that the production won’t decrease that much.
The other side of taking the temperature of the cows is that the labour costs will increase because it takes some time.
How do you do it?
To protect the milk-illness
You must have every day a look at you cows and take the temperature. It’s easy to do that always on same time.
It may need some discipline because it’s a simple thing to forget.
